The Public Property Agency announces a major initiative: the transfer of 672.4 Ha of land to the „Cricova” S.A. Wine Complex.

In recent years, there has been an increase in consumption and a growing demand from consumers, both in the domestic market and especially in foreign markets, for wine products made from local grape varieties (Feteasca Albă, Feteasca Regală, Viorica, Rara Neagră, etc.). However, the areas of land occupied by such vineyards remain relatively small in the Republic of Moldova, including at the „Cricova” Wine Complex, resulting in an insufficient quantity of raw materials needed.

Currently, „Cricova” S.A. does not have the financial resources to purchase new land, while buying grapes from other producers generates significant costs, which directly impact prices and the company’s profitability.

In this context, „Cricova” S.A. submitted a request to the competent authorities for the transfer of vineyards from the administration of the State Enterprise „Didactic-Experimental Station Stăuceni.” However, most of these vineyards, according to the current situation, are abandoned and overgrown, and the „Didactic-Experimental Station Stăuceni” lacks the necessary financial, technical, and human resources to manage them properly.

With a clear vision to optimize the use of state-managed land, the Public Property Agency approved this request and decided to transfer a substantial area of 672.4 hectares to „Cricova” S.A.

This significant event for the „Cricova” Wine Complex recognizes the pressing need for access to high-quality grapes.

We are grateful to the Public Property Agency for facilitating this transfer, which represents a strategic solution that will enhance Cricova’s production capacity.

„Cricova” S.A. has the necessary potential to rehabilitate, efficiently manage, and add value to these lands. Moreover, the land is located near „Cricova” S.A., making its use economically and logistically rational.

For „Cricova” S.A., obtaining the management of these lands is an important step in the company’s development. This will partially solve the issue of acquiring raw materials, leading directly to increased production volumes, sales, and exports, opening new markets and collaboration contracts.

Once rehabilitated, these areas will be cultivated using sustainable vineyard management principles. The plan is to plant native grape varieties, which are increasingly in demand, particularly in international markets. Additionally, lesser-known varieties such as Floricica will be promoted, helping to define the profile of Moldovan wines both locally and internationally.

The land already part of the vineyard area managed by „Cricova” S.A. is located near the winery, and planting vines on these lands will create a unique and remarkable landscape ensemble. This will add value by developing a distinctive and highly attractive tourist site.

For consumers, this will also address an aesthetic issue. As an agricultural country, it is regrettable that there are neglected areas so close to the capital. Wine lovers will soon be able to enjoy new wines produced from grapes grown in these vineyards, maintaining the high level of quality they have come to expect.
